The East: an environmentalist group following the philosophy of an eyefor an eye. The movie follows Sarah, an agent trying to infiltrate TheEast. The movie was almost always exciting, but showed more of theemotional side of the characters.
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun with this one. At times I found myself holding mybreath, and couldn't figure out why. The movie had a good flow to it,with enough exciting parts to keep you from falling asleep. My biggestcomplaint with the movie is it didn't go as deep into the emotionalsides of things and felt like it wanted to be more of a mainstreammovie because of it.
A well made but overly simplistic condemnation of corporate America. The eco-terrorist anarchists are presented as righteous whileimperfect, yet only corrupt examples of corporate America are there torepresent the seemingly, inevitably flawed state of capitalism. If someindividuals are evil, does that make all individuals bad. Thefilmmakers here could point out that they didn't actually put all thecorporate eggs in one basket, but the implication by omission is there.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and very well played characters, especially Brit Marling asa corporate undercover agent caught in the middle.
This will no doubt play well with the "Avatar" audience.
